G.S. DIKSHIT, 1911-2004
Girish Sridhar Dikshit (girIsha srIdhara
dIkshit) (ಗಿರೀಶ್
ಶ್ರೀಧರ ದೀಕ್ಷಿತ್)
was a well known historian of Karnataka and he was an erudite
scholar in Western as well as Indian history. He was born in Harihara, a town in
Davanagere district. He had to work in far
off places such as Parlikimedi in Orissa and Sangli in
Dikshit’s contributions to historical
studies are manifold. He has edited a volume an American History from the point
of view of an Indian Historian. He has written nine books and more than hundred
research papers in English as well as Kannada. Some of his important publications
are as follows:

‘Giridhara Sri’ is the name of the
felicitation volume presented to him and it is edited by A.V.Narasimha Murthy and
K.V.Rammsh. This contains a number of articles on Indology. Dikshits’ contribution
to an understanding of our past is quite significant.
